One of the best parts about the arrival of autumn is watching the leaves change colour! Along with trees changing to their yellow and orange hues, there are a number of buildings in Edinburgh with ivy crawling on its walls that turn a beautiful red during this time of year!
1. Rothesay Terrace
On the corner of Rothesay Terrace and Rothesay Mews in the West End of Edinburgh is a beautiful building with ivy crawling all over it. On our visit, a lovely elderly man was standing outside to say hello and have a small chat with us! Needless to say, he must be used to how popular the building is.
Address: 19 Rothesay Terrace, Edinburgh EH3 7RY
2. Carlowrie Castle
Over on the west of Edinburgh right near Edinburgh Airport is Carlowrie Castle, a 19th-century mansion house that has since been converted into a luxury venue for weddings and other celebrations.
Address: Boathouse Bridge Road, Kirkliston, West Lothian EH29 9ES
3. A-Haven Townhouse Hotel
On the north end of Edinburgh on Newhaven and Ferry Roads is A-Haven Townhouse Hotel, which also wears some stunning ivy.
Address: 180 Ferry Road, Edinburgh EH6 4NS
4. Liberton Kirk
Last but not least on our list is Liberton Kirk, a church on the south side of Edinburgh. It too boasts some very beautiful ivy that turns a deep red in the autumn.
Address: 28-30 Kirkgate, Edinburgh EH16 6RY
While there are various other buildings around Edinburgh that have ivy on its walls, these were the least intrusive buildings - photograph-wise - we could find (some buildings were in very private settings and didn’t seem appropriate for photographing!).
